Description:

The brand-new True Blood novel, starring the irrepressible Sookie Stackhouse. How can you resist?

With her knack for being in trouble's way, Sookie witnesses the firebombing of Merlotte's, the bar where she works. Since Sam Merlotte is now known to be two-natured, suspicion falls immediately on the anti-shifters in the area. But Sookie suspects otherwise and she and Sam work together to uncover the culprit - and the twisted motive for the attack.

But her attention is divided. Though she can't 'read' vampires, Sookie knows her lover Eric Northman and his 'child' Pam well - and she realises that they are plotting to kill the vampire who is now their master. Gradually, she is drawn into the plot - which is much more complicated than she knows.

Caught up in the politics of the vampire world, Sookie will learn that she is as much of a pawn as any ordinary human - and that there is a new Queen on the board.

Review:

Dead Reckoning is the 11th book in the Sookie Stackhouse series by popular author Charlaine Harris. If you are a follower of the series then you won’t be disappointed by this next instalment in the popular series that has become a huge hit as a HBO series as well.

All of our favourite characters are back in Dead Reckoning, Bill, Sookie, Eric, Pam and the rest of the crowd. In this book, Sookie is working her shift in Merlotte's when the bar is firebombed. From all signs, it doesn't look like the bomber was human. To make matters worse, an old enemy is out for her blood and the tension between her vampire lover/husband Eric and his progeny Pam with their boss, Victor, is building. Any scene with Pam in it is great, she is my favourite character.

There are so many folks I love in Sookie's world, and it is real treat catching up with them... but it's like a visit with the old gang in more ways than one. A few old favourites make significant appearances here: Bubba, Mr Cataliades, Amelia, Bob, Hunter and Alcide show up. Bill also plays a larger role in Dead Reckoning than he has in a while, which is good to see.

I really enjoyed this and can’t wait to pick up a copy of Harris’ The Aurora Teagarden Mysteries to see what that series is like. Also can’t wait for The Sookie Stackhouse Companion to come out in September.
