It's another awful year at Bathory High for Vladimir Tod. The evil vampire D'Ablo is hunting for a ritual that could steal Vlad's powers. His best friend, Henry, doesn't want to be his drudge anymore and it's getting harder for Vlad to resist feeding on the people around him. With the threat of D'Ablo looming closer and nightmares haunting him each night, Vlad realises that having a normal high school year is the least of his concerns. He needs to act fast, and even his Pravus powers won't save him this time.

Review

Tenth Grade Bleeds is the third book in the fabulous series by Heather Brew. You really should pick up a copy of the first two in the series before reading this one, not that it isn’t a great standalone book as is, but to really appreciate the ongoing plot and character development it is handy.

The book continues the story of Vlad the Vampire, who unlike other vampires was born rather than created. Vlad’s vampire father and human mother are both dead and he’s been living with an aunty and vampire uncle for years now.

Now in grade ten, Vlad is maturing more and starting to have urges typical to the normal vamp, which comes as a challenge for young Vlad, who is already confused and conflicted in his life and where he fits into society. Having seen Vlad grow up in the last two books, this change in his behaviour is quite interesting and brings the story to a new level.

Once again, Brew has created a fast paced story that is full of twists and turns that keep the reader on the edge of their seat until the final page. It is a great book for the YA audience and vampire fan.
