Review

This is the third book in the popular The Drake Chronicles series, following on from My Love Lies Bleeding and Blood Feud. This story revolves around Hunter, the last in a long line of prestigious Helios-Ra agents, around the inner workings of the Helios-Ra training school. The story give the reader a great insight into how the other side work, giving a rounded picture of both the Vampires and the Helios-Ra. It is actually hard to determine who the bad guys are at times, with both sides showing attributes of evil.

Hunter Wild comes from a long line of vampire hunters and was raised by one of the best vampire hunters around, her grandfather. She knows that she shouldn't like vampires, but something about Quinn just makes her forget all her training. Now with weird things happening at the school the only person she thinks she might be able to trust is Quinn, a vampire. Students at the academy are mysteriously becoming ill and dying. And supposedly no one knows why. But Hunter knows something suspicious is going on. Meanwhile, thanks to Kieran, a longtime friend, Hunter is introduced to the Drake family and, more importantly, to Quinn.

Harvey writes a very smooth story that flows nicely with well developed characters and settings. Long term fans will be extremely pleased with this new instalment in the series and will also be happy to note that the book is left open for another book in the near future.
