Review

I’ve seen many scathing reviews about this book floating around the ether, with people stating how much they wish they’d saved their money or were very disappointed by the Fledgling Handbook. I think these reviewers must have been expecting another House of Night Novel and not realised that this was not what this book was about. If you open the covers pre-warned that this isn’t another novel in the series, but more a supplement, then you would appreciate it for what it is.

So, be warned, this is not another novel in the House of Night series.

The Fledgling Handbook is exactly what the title suggests, a handbook for Fledglings. It is written as an instruction manual for the newly initiated and offers advice and guidance for what to expect along the way to becoming a full vampire.

The manner in which this was written is good for the format of the book and very text book like at times. Take this into account and you will appreciate the background information the authors give you into the new life (or un-life) of a vampire.

While I can’t say all fans of the House of Night series would like this, and those unfamiliar with the series won’t understand it, there is definably a market for this book and the die hard fans of HON will most likely find it valuable.
